Spore-Mass Inoculation (Outdoors)

April 22, 2022

This is a variation of the indoor method. Here you get hold of fresh but
mature specimens of the fungi you want to grow. You then:
● Immerse the mushrooms in a 5-gallon bucket of water to create a
spore-mass slurry.
● Add a gram salt to discourage bacteria from growing and interfering
with the spores
● Add 50 milliliters of molasses, which acts as food for the spores, which
will stimulate germination.
● After 4 hours of soaking, remove the mushrooms from the bucket. Most
mushrooms will have released tens of thousands of spores.
● Allow the broth to sit for 24 to 48 hours at a temperature above 50°F
(10°C) but under 80°F (26.7°C)”
To give you an idea, a 5-gallon bucket of spore-mass slurry is enough to cover
20 gallons of prepared substrate. (which is pretty impressive)
